History of the Haribo brand.
Haribo is a German company dedicated to the production of confectionery. The brand is an acronym devised by its founder, Hans Riegel, on December 13, 1920. Two years after the founding of Haribo, its founder Hans Riegel created the gummy bears, which at that time were called Tanzbären (dancing bears). Currently, Haribo manufactures all types of confectionery in addition to gummy bears, such as candies, licorice, etc. After the death of Hans Riegel, the firm remained in the hands of his sons Hans and Paul. Haribo has more than 6,000 employees, 5 factories in Germany, and 13 more throughout the rest of Europe. The company's headquarters has remained in Bonn since its founding. In June 2003, Haribo products were sold in more than one hundred countries. In October 2003, Hans Riegel Jr. announced the name of his successor on television, his nephew Hans-Jürgen Riegel, who currently manages the French subsidiary.
